Don't Forget Special Needs Education

Special needs children and their education were not a part of the Education Plan rolled out by the Education Minister Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly. This was noted by Founder of Support Autism T&T, Dr. Radhica Mahase. She says that the Division of Student Support Services responsible for Special Education should be consulted in this regard and given assistance. Dr. Mahase says that now is the ideal time to change the approach to education by including those students who are normally homebound. She is advocating for inclusive education which she saw was being implemented very recently in schools. Dr. Mahase says stakeholder meetings need to be a fixture for the Education Ministry and hopes they are willing to engage with those ready to help the special education agenda.
