Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram is denying there has been an increase in Tuberculosis cases locally. The issue was addressed on Wednesday during the Health Ministry's update on COVID-19 matters, when a question was asked whether the Tuberculosis ward at the Caura Hospital was filled to capacity. But Dr. Parasram said there has been no increase in cases year on year. For 2019, he noted that there were a total of 242 cases of TB, with that figure currently at 196 for this year so far. Dr. Parasram said he was given this information by the Thoracic Medical Director at the Caura Hospital, Dr. Michelle Trotman.
