PSA Membership Planning On Taking Executive To Court

The membership of the Public Service Association (PSA) is determined to take the executive of that organisation back to court. Executive member Duaine Hewitt has opposed a meeting held on Wednesday by that body, which worked to change the PSA constitution. This would allow the President, Leroy Baptiste, to continue beyond 60 years of age in his role. He says the meeting was ordered by a High Court judge but had narrow parameters only allowing for everyday financial matters to be discussed. Instead, changes in the constitution were brought up. Mr. Hewitt says changing a constitution is a major move and he does not accept doing it over the internet as correct. He also pointed out that representative sections of the PSA have not been properly comprised and representation of the workers is not being done properly. As a result of the irregularities, he and other workers supporting his view will be going back to court to have the matter examined and adjudicated.
