The calypso artform is moving into the new era. The sentiments expressed by President of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians' Organisation (TUCO), Ainsley King. TUCO held the distribution of cheques and prizes to their Carnival winners which included the National Calypso Monarch, National Extempo and Freestyle competitions. The TUCO President said the 2023 Calypso Monarch Competition saw evidence of a new era starting, as it is the first time so many young people made it to the final night. He said there is no doubt that this is a period in the history of calypso that we are going to see calypso moving back to where it once was. Mr. King called for more support from corporate Trinidad and Tobago for TUCO's ventures.
