Ministry Of Social Development And Family Services Helps Siparia Fire Victims

The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services has stepped in to assist the Morris family whose home at Quinam Road, Siparia was destroyed by fire on Sunday. The fire claimed the lives of Kemba Morris and her eight year old daughter Zaya. Officers attached to the National Family Services Division as well as the National Social Development Programme have already made contact with the family and a team will visit the family on Thursday. Emergency food support will be provided to the family as well as information on the Grant offerings available to them during this difficult period. Among the Grants are Rental Assistance Grant, Clothing Grant, School Supplies for Children, Household Items, Minor House Repair, and Assistance through the Funeral Grant. The Ministry was informed that the family is staying with a close relative and as such efforts will be made to provide any amenities required to bring comfort at this time.
