Former President of the Chaguanas Chamber of Commerce, Richie Sookhai, is now a Minister in the Ministry of Works and Transport. Mr. Sookhai was sworn-in on Friday afternoon by President Christine Kangaloo at President's House. This follows the announcement of the appointment on Friday morning by the Office of the Prime Minister. The OPM said Dr. Rowley advised President Christine Kangaloo to appoint Mr. Sookhai as Minister effective today, Friday April 14th 2023. Mr. Sookhai became a Government Senator back in January after then Senate President Christine Kangaloo resigned, having been elected to be President of the country.
