AMCHAM Trinidad and Tobago and the Manufacturer's Association have welcomed the Finance Minister's announcement of the acceleration of VAT refunds. In response to the Mid Year Budget Review, AMCHAM said the decision to accelerate VAT refunds via payment of cash for the amount of $250,000 or less between May and June 2023 is welcome. The Chamber said however with no major announcements of new initiatives or projects, it will continue to advocate for improvements in the ease of doing business and more effective crime reduction strategies. The Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association said the acceleration of VAT refunds signals the Government’s continued commitment to the small and medium enterprise sector. President of the TTMA, Mr. Roger Roach. said he hopes that while these current payments are being completed, a system will be adopted for the non-build-up of payment of VAT refunds in the future.
