T&T Awarded Close To TT$1 Billion In Piarco Airport Matter

Trinidad and Tobago has been awarded final judgement of almost $1 billion in the Piarco International Airport Corruption matter by a Miami-Dade Court Judge. The final judgement comes after a four-week trial in March, when Raul Gutierrez Junior, Brian Kuei Tung, and Steve Ferguson, were found guilty in the civil litigation initiated by the Government in 2004. Former Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi pointed out that the judgement is one of joint and several liability which means you can pursue one or all of the defendants for the entire judgement sum. Mr. Al-Rawi said if the defendants want to stop the execution of the judgement, they would have to put up a bond.
