Maintenance Work Causes Decline In Gas Production

The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries says the country's natural gas production was down for the month of June. The Ministry notes this was the result of maintenance activities three major upstream gas producers. These gas producers were bpTT, Woodside, and Shell, all of which had planned the maintenance work well in advance of the actual shutdowns. This work, according to the Ministry, coincided with shutdowns at Train IV at Atlantic LNG, Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited, and the Urea plant at Nutrien Ltd. The MEEI indicates production was down by 22% compared to May 2024. A release from the Ministry says this reduction was reflected in the Consolidated Natural Gas Monthly Bulletins for January to June 2024. With the completion of those maintenance works, the Ministry says gas production was up 2.3 billion cubic feet per day for July and 2.7 billion for August with production for the fourth quarter of 2024 projected to average 2.5 bcf per day.
