T&T Marine Biologist Tops Caribbean Excellence Awards

Trinidad and Tobago Marine Biologist, Dr. Diva Amon, has topped the Science and Technology category of the prestigious Anthony N. Sabga 2024 Caribbean Excellence Awards, together with Barbadian Paediatric Neurologist Dr. Stefan Walcott. The announcement was made on Tuesday morning and included four other categories - Arts and Letters, Entrepreneurship, and Public and Civic Contributions. The joint laureate was awarded for her commitment to improving the Conservation of Caribbean and Global Marine Environments through Marine Science, Policy, and Communication. Dr. Amon is one of five Laureates who will also receive significant financial support as part of the reward package at the Gala Ceremony to be held in Barbados in May. Dr. Amon is a Director of SpeSeas, a non-profit NGO dedicated to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to appreciate and use our oceans now and in the future.
