Annual Women Against Breast Cancer 5K

The annual Women Against Breast Cancer 5K hosted by Scotiabank kicked off today at 4pm with approximately 5,000 participants at the Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain. This year's walk was different from previous years as it's the first year that men are being allowed to compete. Executive Director of the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation, Nigel Edwards, said he has always supported the annual walk. The walk started with a 30-minute warm-up at 3:30pm before the participants made their way to the starting line. The event has grown in popularity as many cancer survivors and their family members support it each year. The proceeds will be donated to the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society. The Scotiabank Women Against Breast Cancer Programme has been in existence for over 20 years. This year's walk is also the first in-person race since 2019, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
