MV Cabo Star Back In Service

The MV Cabo Star is back in operation, following one month out of service. TTT News understands that the vessel has been inspected and certified as safe to operate. Around 11:23pm on August 23rd, a fire broke out in one of the Cabo Star’s engine rooms as it was en route to Port of Spain. This disrupted operations caused over 100 people on board to be stranded for 18 hours at sea. The fire damaged electrical cables and an auxiliary engine. The vessel subsequently returned to Trinidad for repairs, which were completed yesterday and the vessel certified to return to service. With the MV Cabo Star under repairs, the MV Emprendedora arrived at the Port of Port of Spain from Venezuela on September 9th to provide relief to passengers using the sea-bridge, including local truckers.
