EBC Receives 14 Requests For Recount

The Elections and Boundaries Commission has received official requests for recounts in 14 of the 141 Electoral Districts after the Local Government Elections on Monday August 14th, 2023. The United National Congress has requested recounts in Arima North East, Arima West/O’Meara, Auzonville/Tunapuna, Bagatelle/Blue Basin, Blanchisseuse/Santa Rosa, Cocoyea/Tarouba, Five Rivers, Lengua/Indian Walk, Maracas/Santa Margarita, Mayaro North, Sangre Grande North East, and San Juan East. The People's National Movement is seeking recounts in Marabella West and Marabella South/Vistabella. All recounts were scheduled to begin at 3pm today, Tuesday August 15th, at the Office for the Returning Officer for the Electoral District where the recount was requested. The preliminary results show the PNM and the UNC each won 7 of the 14 Regional Corporations.
