Security Officer Killed In ATM Robbery

A security officer attached to Telecom Security Services was shot and killed following a robbery close to a popular supermarket in Cunupia around noon on Thursday. Around 11:58am, police responded to a report of a robbery in progress along Chin Chin Road. Security Officer Hasley Augustus was reportedly placing monies into an ATM when a group of approximately eight men ambushed him. There was an exchange of gunfire following which Mr. Augustus was seen lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Cunupia Health Facility, but succumbed to his injuries.
