Raffick Jumadeen Passes On

The cricket and sporting fraternities were hit with the sad news of the passing of former T&T and West Indies spinner Raffick Jumadeen. Jumadeen, who was enjoying his retirement, passed on Tuesday night at the age of 75. He made his debut for the West Indies in 1972, playing 12 test matches taking 29 wickets and also had a top score of 56. His last game was against India in 1979. He also enjoyed 99 first class matches grabbing 347 wickets. Jumadeen then moved on to become a coach of the game, as he opened and managed his coaching school based at Guaracara Park in Marabella. Jumas, as he was fondly called, mentored several national youth cricketers who eventually made it to the highest level. He also coached at Presentation College San Fernando for several years. Raffick Jumadeen would have contributed to the national cricketing landscape for many decades.
