The funeral of renowned broadcaster, media trainer and former actress, Barbara Assoon, took place today. She was cremated at the St. James Crematorium at Long Circular at 9:30am. Barbara, who was a broadcaster on Radio Trinidad for many decades, died last week Tuesday at the Westshore Hospital at the age of 90. She will be remembered for her precise diction on the delivery of daily newscasts and for her services to the media industry by offering training to many young journalists and broadcasters. Ms. Assoon was an actor before joining the media. She appeared in productions in Trinidad and Tobago and in England where she studied. She's survived by six siblings and her only son, Peter Wimbourne, who resides in Canada.
