Communications Minister's Message On World Press Freedom Day

Minister of Communications Donna Cox is extending greetings to the local media fraternity on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day. World Press Freedom Day celebrated on May 3rd acts as a reminder to governments of the need to respect their commitment to press freedom and is also a day of reflection among media professionals about issues of press freedom and professional ethics. Minister Cox says during the COVID-19 pandemic traditional and non-traditional media have risen to heights never seen before. She says the local media always plays a pivotal role in relaying government information to the citizens and it is government's hope that this relationship will continue to be strengthened.
