Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Ancil Dennis, has assumed the post of Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Transportation. He replaces Nadine Stewart-Phillips who held that portfolio since 2017.
Ms. Stewart-Phillips is now an Assistant Secretary in the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development.
Meanwhile, former Chief Secretary, Kelvin Charles, remains as the Secretary of Education, Innovation and Energy, and Assemblyman Joel Jack also remains the Deputy Chief Secretary and the Secretary of Finance and the Economy.
Other appointments include Clarence Jacob as the Secretary of Settlements, Urban Renewal and Public Utilities, Hayden Spencer as the Secretary of Food Production, Forestry and Fisheries, Marslyn Melville-Jack as the Secretary of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour, and Jomo Pitt as the Secretary of Sport and Youth Affairs.
Assemblymen Sheldon Cunningham, Shomari Hector and Marisha Osmond have been assigned portfolios as Assistant Secretaries.
Responding to the appointments, Minister of Tourism, Randall Mitchell, congratulated THA Chief Secretary, Ancil Dennis, as he assumes the role of Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Transportation.
Noting the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism industry, Minister Mitchell said he looks forward to working with Mr. Dennis in charting a course towards recovery for both islands.
The Tourism Minister said as tourism agencies on both islands work to fulfill their respective mandates, it's expected that the spirit of collaboration and resilience will bolster their joint efforts towards building a successful tourism industry.
