Former National Football Captain Sedley Joseph has lost his long battle with kidney failure, and died at hospital around 2pm on Monday. Joseph was a fixture on the National team for many years in the 60s and early 70s, and led T&T to a Bronze medal at the 1967 CAC Games. He was voted as the Captain of the Century in the new millennium, after he led his club Maple to an astonishing 28 trophies in nine years in the 60s. Sedley was having regular dialysis at the John Hayes Kidney Foundation in Belmont, and it was during one of his regular visits there last week Wednesday that he fell ill and was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was until his death on Monday. He was 81 years old, and lost his wife, Janet, in December of 2015, after 51 years of marriage. He leaves to mourn his two daughters Monique and Nicki, having also lost his son, Remy, a few years ago.
