Sporting Groups Clash With Sando Mayor Over Drive-In Cinema At Skinner Park

Plans to have a drive-in cinema at the Skinner Park location are being met with brake lights by some Sporting Associations. On Saturday, members of the Southern Football Association stormed the facility, stating that the organisers are taking away an essential play area from the public for monetary gain. General Secretary of the Southern Football Association, Alex Procope, told TTT News that any plans to host a cinema there when the country is reopened for outdoor activities will hurt the Southern city. This view came into conflict with the opinion of the Mayor of San Fernando, Junia Regrello, who said the cinema was approved based on consultation and he is at pains to understand why there is conflict now. Mayor Regrello said the show will go on. The Mayor's opinion was not met with smiling faces as the conversation degenerated into a heated argument. Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Xperience Cinema said they have an agreement with the San Fernando City Corporation and the cinema will do well for the Southern economy. The drive-in cinema is expected to open the weekend after June 22nd and preparations should be completed by June 19th.
