Disabled Students Learn Real World Skills Through 'Masters of Prep'

Students with disabilities will now be given the opportunity to practice real world skills, like disaster preparedness, through a virtual reality game. The game, 'Masters of Prep,' which was conceptualised by the Digicel Foundation, forms part of the Foundation's disaster-preparedness programme, 'Preparing You,' which prepares both administrators and students of special needs schools to respond and cope in the event of an emergency. Speaking at the Launch of the game on Friday, Project Officer at the Digicel Foundation, Natalie Ann De Silva, said the preparedness programme is now in its third year. She said they came up with the virtual reality game as there was a need to engage students with special needs on preparedness without losing their interest. The game has already been tested in six schools.
