HDC Not At War With Farmers

The Housing Development Corporation says it's willing to examine any evidence brought by the Singh family to support their claim to a Wallerfield farm earmarked for a Housing Development. The HDC held a Press Conference on Monday afternoon in response to complaints on the weekend that the Corporation was bullying the Singhs off their farm and was bulldozing their crops. HDC Managing Director, Brent Lyons, said the HDC is a responsible organisation and is not intent on seizing anyone's land. Mr. Lyons said the action on Friday was preceded by numerous visits, since January, to the site. Mr. Lyons said he understands the Commissioner of State Lands held a meeting with the Singhs on Monday to reach an amicable solution, and he was awaiting the outcome.
