Accelerating the Digital Government

The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasised the need to move Government services online. So said the experts at "Coffee Shop Conversations" hosted virtually on Friday by the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago under the theme, "Accelerating the Digital Government." Chief Executive Officer of iGovTT, Kirk Henry, said if services are digitised and automated, things will be easier and more accessible for members of the public. And while there is some semblance of it happening already, there is still a lot to be considered before e-government services can better cater to citizens. One of which is the issue of security of public information and data collection. Chief Executive Officer of InfoLink Services Limited, Glynis Alexander Tam, said there needs to be a common sense approach to accelerating the plan to roll out e-government services. She added that one of the major considerations should be how the plan will impact the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
