UDeCOTT Denies Withdrawing From Meeting With Sando Fishermen

Claims by fishermen attached to King's Wharf in San Fernando that representatives of the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago declined to meet with them on Monday are untrue. The fishermen are concerned about their livelihoods being affected as a result of UDeCOTT's Southern waterfront project, and claimed that none of its representatives showed up to a scheduled meeting. However, UDeCOTT representatives said they are interested in meeting with the fishermen and have communicated to their spokesperson that a meeting will be held on July 15th. The fishermen have indicated that they prefer to stay at their current location. However, the UDeCOTT Acting CEO said suggestions for relocation will be part of the discussions at the next meeting with the fishermen.
