23 Police Officers Rewarded For Solving Murders

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith rewarded 23 officers attached to several Units for outstanding performances in solving seven homicides in a short time. Commissioner Griffith said when the TTPS solves crimes, it acts as a deterrent to individuals. He said by solving crimes, the TTPS has given relatives of the deceased persons the hope that justice will take place. Commissioner Griffith said he will continue to support his officers by enhancing capacity and closing any gaps. In total, 12 people were murdered in the seven incidents of homicides, which occurred between May 18th and June 5th. This included a brutal quadruple murder in New Grant on May 25th, and a double murder in Central Trinidad on May 18th, when Kenneth and Lilawatie Machan were killed.
