Remembering 1990

Remembering the 1990 attempted coup is important. This morning Noel Simeon, a survivor who lived through the event in TTT, said that it is a date that resonates in his heart and mind with memories which should not ever be forgotten for the nation's sake. Member of the Commission of Enquiry on the 1990 Coup Diana Mahabir Wyatt, agrees with the idea of remembrance, saying that one of the recommendations coming out of the Commission of Enquiry was to make the 27th of July an official day to commemorate the events of that year. She says it is important to pass on the events of not only 1990, but also 1970, to the nation's youth for national development.
