Tree Uprooted On Brian Lara Promenade

Strong winds and heavy rain caused a tree to be uprooted on the Brian Lara Promenade this afternoon. The incident took place just after 4pm. It was only hours before at the Statutory Meeting of the Port of Spain Corporation, Mayor Joel Martinez, complimented the Disaster Management Unit for its quick work during a similar incident when a number trees around the Queen's Park Savannah fell during strong winds on July 9th. At least two vehicles were damaged then. Mayor Martinez said after that incident a tree trimming and pruning exercise was undertaken. And the Disaster Management Unit had to be called out to deal with another incident. This time, in upper Maraval where a tree fell across the road near Massy Stores. This caused the area to be cut off as traffic was unable to go in or out of Maraval until the fallen tree was removed.
