Many Can Step Into UNC Leadership Role

Political Scientist Dr. Winford James believes an immediate resignation of the current UNC Leader would not harm the party more than it already is. He notes that there are people within the party who wish to see her stay, but says this may be because they cannot see anyone else leading the UNC. However, Dr. James says in the Western world, when one loses several elections the person normally steps down and makes way for new leadership. He believes though that there are many who can step up to the mantle to lead the party, including Dr. Roodal Moonilal, UNC PRO Anita Haynes, former Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine, or Vasant Bharath. But Dr. James says with the EMBD matter over Dr Moonilal's head, it may be another unnecessary hurdle for the party to overcome. The Political Scientist says the UNC has the option of delaying the resignation of the current Leader, but says the question is whether there may be any advantage of doing so.
