The Bar Owners and Operators Association of Trinidad and Tobago is reporting that a total of 47 bars have closed their doors as a result of COVID-19 Public Health measures. In a release posted to the Association's Facebook page on Friday, its interim President, Teron Mohan, said since the implementation of the 'Grab and Go' measure for food establishments and bars, several businesses have suffered, forcing them to shut down. The release added that some businesses that tried to remain open couldn't sustain their operating costs, with no understanding from landlords, and were also unable to keep staff employed. Mr. Mohan said he expects more businesses to close in the coming weeks.
