There will be no National Awards Ceremony in September this year. The Ceremony has usually taken place on Republic Day. A release from the Office of the President cited they have not yet received the list of persons selected to receive Awards this year and this has compromised their ability to host the Awards to the usual standard. COVID-19 has also heavily influenced the decision, as it will necessarily shrink the guest list to negligible number and, most importantly, the awardees will be denied the opportunity to invite their personal guests and those on the Table of Precedence cannot be invited. The Office of the President is hoping the Awards can take place before the end of the year.
