The Annual Great Race Is Back On

The annual Great Race is back on and will take place on Saturday, September 26th. Originally slated for August 22nd, the event was postponed indefinitely based on the restrictions government imposed as a result of the spread of COVID-19. But the T&T Powerboats Association executive managed to convince the government that the event can be staged successfully, despite strict adherence to the protocols imposed by the Ministry of Health and the police service. The race will be held minus the crush of spectators who normally assemble to witness the start and finish in Trinidad and over in Tobago, but swimming will not be permitted in Tobago, and race participants must wear proper helmets with face masks preferably. In excess of 25 boats were originally listed to take part, and it is expected that those numbers will persist come race day.
