Following recommendations by the Police Complaints Authority, Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has ordered that Assistant Commissioner of Police, Irwin Hackshaw, be suspended with immediate effect. ACP Hackshaw was being investigated for his involvement in alleged unusual financial transactions. The development follows a meeting between PCA Director David West and Commissioner Griffith on Tuesday. Via news release, the Police Commissioner said the TTPS is having consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and is awaiting further advice. Meanwhile, the PCA says it had forwarded its findings to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in accordance with Section 30(1) of the Police Complaints Authority Act for further action in accordance with the principles of due process.
