Former MP For La Brea Fitzgerald Jeffery Has Passed Away

Former MP for La Brea and High Commissioner to Jamaica Fitzgerald Jeffery has passed away. He was 69 years old and succumbed after a long battle with lung disease. Jeffery was a retired secondary school teacher and served as a PNM MP and Minister in the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education during the 2007-2010 administration. He was diagnosed with stage four pulmonary fibrosis and was raising funds to obtain a lung transplant and post-operation care. Among those sending their condolences is Minister of Energy Franklin Khan who said he studied at UWI Jamaica with Mr Jeffery who he called the 'Calypso King' of Mona Campus in the '70s Condolences have also been expressed by his former constituents and the executive of the People's National Movement.
