The Tobago Council of the People's National Movement has opened nominations for the Tobago House of Assembly elections, constitutionally due in 2021. Party Chairman, Stanford Callender, says party groups were expected to inform their various constituency secretaries and the council secretary of the names of their party group members as all 12 seats are up for grabs. Mr. Callender says during the period September 21st to October 12th no new party groups are to be formed and there will also be a pause on applications for membership. According to the THA Act, Section 22, the Assembly shall continue for four years of its current term. The current THA began its term on January 26th, 2017. The PNM currently holds ten of the 12 electoral districts with the Progressive Democratic Patriots occupying the other two. The PDP has already begun its nomination process and will challenge all 12 districts.
