Tobago Desk Activated To Fast Track Grants

Less than a month after promising to implement a 'Tobago Desk' to assist in fast-tracking Grants, Social Development Minister Donna Cox has announced that it has been activated. In early September, following a meeting with THA Health Secretary Tracy Davidson-Celestine, Ms. Cox noted that citizens in Tobago were complaining that they were not receiving feedback on Grants, months after applying. One of the solutions offered to solve that situation was the implementation of a 'Tobago Desk' to ensure solutions to the Grants in as little time as possible. The Minister says the direct telephone line and WhatsApp numbers would not just be for information on Grants related to COVID-19. Minister Cox adds that the line is now fully staffed to ensure to expedite all queries related to Social Grants. The Social Development Minister was speaking after the Ministry launched its first Information Communication Technology (ICT) Lab attached to the Adult Education Programme, which is located along Cipero Street in San Fernando. The lab was an initiative in collaboration with the Digicel Foundation, which has donated 10 desktop computers that will be made available to the 55 persons registered for ICT Studies in the 2020 edition of the Adult Education Programme.
