Single Mother Receives New Home From TTPS

Thanks to the efforts of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, a family in Arouca whose home was destroyed during inclement weather in September, now have a sturdy roof over their heads. Nineteen days after about learning of the unfortunate circumstances of the single mother and her two children, officers of the TTPS's Community Relations Unit were able to hand over a brand new house to the family. Corporal Greenidge of the Northern Division Community Policing Unit admitted that the relationship between the police and the community in Arouca is not always the best. He said the police saw an opportunity to seize a different aspect of policing. Assistant Superintendent Ramkhelawan in charge of TTPS Community Relations, said the feat was accomplished through the collaborative efforts of the TTPS Youth Clubs, Northern Division Community Policing, the Trinidad and Tobago Contractors Association and local businesses.
