President of Trinidad and Tobago Automotive Dealers Association (TTADA), Visham Babwah, says they were made very apprehensive by the new measures. Mr. Babwah says the new COVID-19 laws limit access to public transportation but now purchasing a vehicle for personal safety is beyond many consumers' reach. Mr. Babwah says the used car industry only uses 10% of foreign exchange funds, yet they are being penalised in contrast to the new car dealers. He also says about 7,000 workers have had to be let go, with nowhere to go with their specialised skills.
