Buccoo Reef Tours Resume But No Bathing Or Swimming Allowed

Tours to the Buccoo Reef Marine Park in Tobago have resumed but there is to be no bathing or swimming in the water. Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Ancil Dennis, is reminding the public that restrictions pertaining to sea bathing remain in effect. Over the weekend, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley announced that exemptions were granted for tours to the Buccoo Reef and the Caroni Swamp. According to the Public Health Regulations, tours to the Buccoo Reef or the Caroni Bird Sanctuary shall be permitted where- - the tour does not exceed fifty percent of the ordinary capacity. - persons on the tours, wear an appropriate face mask, face shield or face covering. - and persons on such tours do not disembark the vessel, to bathe or swim. The Chief Secretary is encouraging all residents and visitors to Tobago to abide by the Public Health Regulations. He says we must do this in phases and not rush to liberalise too quickly.
