$14 Million Home For Desperadoes

Work has already started on the construction of the new George Street, Port of Spain home for the steelband giant, Desperadoes. When completed, the 1.35 acre site will encompass a two-storey commercial building, a panyard, a bleacher to hold 500 spectators, and a parking lot for just under 100 vehicles. The project is expected to be completed in nine months at a cost of $14 million and according to Port of Spain MP Keith Scotland, the completed site will add to the campaign to revamp and beautify the capital city. Meanwhile, Desperadoes Manager and Chairman, Dr. Finbar Fletcher, is relieved the project is finally underway after being delayed by COVID-19. Dr. Fletcher intends to use the completed facility to generate revenue for the band. But in the interim, he said Desperadoes is planning to host a virtual concert in celebration of its taking the 2020 Panorama crown.
