FIFA Appeal On Friday

The Court of Appeal will rule on Friday whether High Court Judge Carol Gobin had the jurisdiction to hear the United TTFA's case against FIFA in a local court. Chief Justice Ivor Archie and Appellate Nolan Bureaux heard submissions from the Attorneys from both parties this afternoon, and have reserved their judgement. The Court of Appeal will rule on Friday at 3pm. FIFA contends that under its constitution, the TTFA agreed to forgo litigation in local courts, in favour of arbitration before the Court of Arbitration for Sports. The TTFA's Attorneys have argued that the TTFA's constitution cannot oust the jurisdiction of local courts. If FIFA wins the appeal, Justice Gobin's ruling will become null and void.
