FSO Nabarima Stable

The FSO Nabarima is upright and stable, with no visible tilt or imminent risk of sinking. The latest update comes from Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Franklin Khan, during a Virtual Press Conference to update on what has been reported to be a pending environmental disaster. The ship stores about 1.3 million barrels of oil and an oil spill could threaten Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela and other territories in range of the Gulf of Paria, where it is anchored in Venezuelan waters. Minister Khan said, however, a report prepared by a team of experts sent to conduct an onsite visit of the FSO Nabarima on Tuesday, indicates there is no risk of the vessel tilting, sinking or spilling oil. Minister Khan said even though there is no pending risk to the environment, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago has in place, a contingency plan to prevent environmental damage.
