$15 Million For Property Tax Preparation

Fifteen million dollars has been spent on hiring field officers to conduct assessments on buildings and other assets as part of the implementation of Property Tax. This was disclosed by Minister of Finance Colm Imbert on Thursday, as the Standing Finance Committee examined the estimates of the Finance Ministry. Oropouche West MP, Davendranath Tancoo, asked about the figure of $7 million allocated to travelling and subsistence, which was an increase of $4 million. Mr. Imbert said this had to do with the intention to step up visits to properties for valuations for the collection of Property Tax.
