Digicel Donates Devices To Russel Latapy Secondary School

Sixty seven schools across the country will benefit from the Digicel Foundation's 'Connecting You Programme.' Thirty four Special Schools and 33 mainstream schools will receive1,715 tablets, along with 200 refurbished laptops donated by Digicel. Phase 2 of the Programme kicked off on Friday with a donation of 153 tablets to the Russel Latapy Secondary School in Morvant. One student, Alyssa Diaz, was on hand to receive her device, which her mother, Melissa Harrington, said she was thankful for. The overall Programme was an investment of about $1.8 million, and was supported by Digicel Business through internet packages, tech flex with $70,000 in upgrades or operating systems. Receiving the donation on behalf of the school was Principal Alicia Lucien Baptiste, who said the devices will reach the students who need them most, which will help them access the virtual education platforms.
