Digicel Foundation AGM: US$4.4 Million Invested In Special Needs And Community Development Projects

The Digicel Foundation of Trinidad and Tobago has invested over US$4.4 million in special needs and community development projects over the past eight years. During the Foundation's Virtual AGM on Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer Penny Gomez said Digicel Foundation's investment has impacted over 143,000 people through 477 projects. Among the special needs projects completed was the reconstruction of the one-of-a-kind surgical ward and operating theatre at the Princess Elizabeth Center in Port-of-Spain. Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago is a long-time partner with the Digicel Foundation. Ms. Gomez said the Foundation's Sport Development Programme was created to grow Special Olympics locally. The Digicel Foundation also reported that donations have increased by 98% in 2020, while project expenses increased by 20%. The virtual meeting ended prematurely due to technical difficulties, and has been rescheduled to a future date.
