Medical Board To Meet To Discuss Racist Remarks By Doctor

The Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago is to meet next Wednesday to discuss allegations of verbal abuse and racist remarks made by a doctor against his employee. This, after Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, said the doctor does not work with the Government but he has asked the Attorney General to write to both the Medical Association and the Medical Board to request an investigation into the matter. The doctor is attached to a private institution in South Trinidad. The allegations came to the fore after phone recordings were leaked of the doctor allegedly verbally abusing the employee and using racist language and disparaging remarks against a member of the Protective Services. The alleged attacks against the employee have been met with widespread and strong condemnation. Among those condemning the doctor's actions was the People's National Movement's Women's League, the first to call for an investigation into the matter.
