Medical Board Launches Probe Into Doctor's Racist Rant

The Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago says it has initiated an investigation into the alleged behaviour of Dr. Avinash Sawh. The medical practitioner's alleged racist rant went viral on social media over the last week after an employee posted the recording. On Wednesday, ahead of the scheduled meeting of the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Sawh in the presence of his legal representation apologised to the nation. In a statement on Thursday, following the Council's deliberation on the incident, the Board said it strongly condemns any form of racial discrimination, racial slurs, or verbal abuse by registered medical practitioners. The Council said as an initial step, correspondence will be sent to Dr. Avinash Sawh seeking an explanation.
