National Snooker Championship

The quest to crown the first National Snooker Champion began on Tuesday night at the Chinese Association in St Ann's, Port-of-Spain. Peter Scott defeated Kazim Daniel in the opening match of the historic tournament. He won the best-of-three frame match 2-0, winning the frames played 45-26 and 64-62. The Billiard Sports Organization of Trinidad and Tobago (B-SOTT) hoped to crown champions in snooker as well as 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball. However, with bars closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, B-SOTT had to review their plans. Snooker was hugely popular in Trinidad and Tobago from the 1960s to the 1980s. However, the sport had steadily declined since then and B-SOTT is keen to change this.
