Australian shipbuilder, Austal, has launched the first Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) Cape Class vessel into the water.
The announcement came from Minister of National Security, Stuart Young.
Mr. Young said this launch is a significant step, bringing the country closer to taking delivery of these naval assets for the Coast Guard.
He said he was looking forward to the continued progress in the journey of getting these assets to Trinidad and Tobago.
The vessel is a 58 metre all aluminium monohull patrol boat which has a long 4,000 nautical mile range and 28-day patrol cycle.
It can also accommodate a crew of up to 22 people.
