Lake Asphalt 'Weathering The Storm'

Chief Executive Officer of Lake Asphalt, Roger Wiggins, says while the company was not forced to send home workers since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has had to efficiently manage its costs. Mr. Wiggins says at the beginning of the pandemic in March/April, Lake Asphalt was not as fortunate to be listed as 'essential.' But with the opening of the manufacturing sector months later, the company commenced operations and has been adhering to strict COVID-19 policies and procedure. The CEO says currently, the main objective of the company is to increase sales to sustain the business. Mr. Wiggins adds that the company is very much operational and like most businesses, he says they are working with Government to rally through the pandemic. In February, Mr. Wiggins denied claims from the Contractors and General Workers Trade Union that the La Brea company was facing closure after the Carnival period. At the time, he stated that Lake Asphalt revised its strategic plan in a bid to increase the company's revenue stream.
