Driver's permits which expire on or before December 31st, 2020 will now be valid until March 31st, 2021. Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi moved the Miscellaneous Provisions 2019, Novel Corona Virus, Number 2 Bill 2020 in the Parliament on Friday. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting restriction of movement, motorists were given an extension deadline of December 31st for expired driver's permits. The Attorney General explained why there must be a further extension period. The Bill also amends the expiry date for licenses governing cinemas, theatres, dancehalls, money-lenders and pawn-brokers. The Attorney General also mentioned there will be a softening of the law when it comes to arrest warrants for maintenance, during this period of a pandemic.
